ScienceFlows Participates in the Iberifier Plus Kick-off Meeting in Pamplona

CAROLINA MORENO//ANA SERRA. We are very pleased to share the experience of our team at the kick-off meeting for the Iberifier Plus project, held in Pamplona on May 23rd and 24th, 2024. During this event, we had the opportunity to interact with other project partners and discuss the work we will undertake from now until the project’s completion. One of the highlights was the presentation by Ana Serra, representing the team from the University of Valencia, where she outlined our proposal as coordinators of Work Package 5 (WP5).

This work package is dedicated to monitoring and evaluating adherence to and implementation of the Code of Practice on Disinformation by major online platforms and search engines. This effort is crucial for mitigating disinformation within the digital ecosystem.

Our key objectives include:

  • Monitoring Compliance: Ensuring that major digital platforms comply with Article 17 of the Code, which demands efforts in media literacy and critical thinking, especially for vulnerable groups.
  • Support and Evaluation: Providing substantial analytical support to the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) and the European Commission to evaluate the implementation of the Code.
  • Developing Indicators: Creating structural (standard) indicators to measure the impact of the Code on disinformation and assisting in data access frameworks.
  • Analysing Regional Impact: Providing detailed information on regional disinformation trends and related issues at the request of the European Commission.

Ana Serra presented these objectives, focusing on the strategies and methodologies that will ensure their successful implementation. She also emphasized the importance of collaboration and open communication among all partners, establishing a tone of participation and cooperation for the tasks to be developed within this work package. This message was especially directed at the partners participating in this work package: the University of Santiago de Compostela, the University of Navarra, and the University Institute of Lisbon.

Throughout the meeting, we engaged in debates, shared ideas, and outlined plans that will drive our collective work within the framework of Iberifier Plus.
