Participate in the Climate Change Perception Survey in Brazil and Spain

Carolina Moreno// A few months ago, we launched an international survey to explore how citizens in Spain and Brazil perceive climate change. This study is the result of a close collaboration between the University of Valencia in Spain, led by Carolina Moreno, and researchers Luisa Massarani (Fundação Oswaldo Cruz) and Thaiane Oliveira (Universidade Federal Fluminense) from Brazil.

The main goal of this study is to compare public perceptions in both countries on key issues related to climate change at a time when extreme weather events are severely impacting our regions.

For instance, on April 29, 2024, Brazil experienced severe floods in Rio Grande de Sur, with landslides and the collapse of a dam affecting 2.4 million people. Six months later, on October 29, the DANA storms 2024 caused flooding in Spain, affecting regions like Aragon, Castellan-La Mancha, Andalusia, Catalonia, and the Valencian Community.

After a brief pause to address urgent matters related to the Valencia catastrophe, we are resuming the survey’s promotion and warmly invite you to participate.

Who can participate?
We welcome opinions from people of different autonomous communities, ages, and ideologies who are residents of Spain.

How do you participate?
The survey consists of a questionnaire that takes about 15 minutes to complete. Participation is voluntary; you can skip any question or stop at any time for any reason.

Why participate?
In a context of increasing natural disasters linked to rising sea temperatures, this research’s findings will be vital in guiding public policy decisions to provide solutions or alternatives to these challenges.
