Biography

Carolina Moreno Castro is a Full Professor of Journalism in the University of Valencia and member of the Research Unit on Scientific Culture at the Centre for Energy, Environmental and Technological Research (CIEMAT) in Madrid. Since the beginning of her research career in the Institute for Advanced Social Studies (IESA) of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in 1993, until now, she has published a number of works about the representativeness, the social treatment and perception of health, the science, the technology and the environment on media. Furthermore, she has leaded several research projects about the communication of risk and the scientific communication. She was part of the panel of experts who participated in the international project Estándar Iberoamericano de Indicadores de Percepción Pública, Cultura Científica y Participación Ciudadana (2005-2009). Currently, she is part of the research team of the European project Cultural Narratives of Crisis and Renewal (H2020-MSCA-2014 CRIC), where around forty researches are involved. She has imparted seminars in the Cornwell University (Ithaca, New York), in the Austral University (Valdivia, Chile), in the Quilmes University and the National University of Third of February of Buenos Aires (Argentina). She is member of the advisory board of the Studies Centre on Science, Communication and Society from the Pompeu Fabra University (CCS-UPF) and she is a member of the board of directors of the Spanish Association of Science Communication (AECC).
